CURRICULUM VITAE

 

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Mia Salsjö graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2010 with dual qualifications in both Fine Art (first class honors and Masters) and a Bachelor of Music Performance (BA) in the Jazz Improvisation stream. Since then she has been practicing between Australia, Indonesia and Cuba, developing projects that interweave cross-cultural imagery, music notation and socio-political symbolism. Her work is held in numerous private collections and in the Rare Books and Manuscripts Collection of the State Library of Victoria.

SOLO EXHIBITIONS

2023: Sydney Opera House and MCA present two unique one off live performance's of The Bridge: A score for Sydney Harbour Bridge. A 12 piece Brass ensemble as part of 'Performances on the Quay'. Commisioned as part of The National 4: Australian Art Now.

2023: A score for Fed Square in celebration of the Melbourne landmark’s anniversary, commissioned by Fed Square and the National Gallery of Victoria, responding to Fed Square’s architecture. In an exclusive one-off performance, musicians from the MSO, conducted by Cybec Assistant Conductor Carlo Antonioli, perform A score for Fed Square in Community Hall.
